Citi Pharma Limited (PSX: CPHL) has announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Iraq, marking a major step in its regional expansion strategy.
The company’s leadership team recently visited Iraq, where CEO Rizwan Sheikh met with the country’s Health Minister, Dr. Salih al-Hasnawi, to discuss strengthening healthcare collaboration and investment.
With Iraq’s pharmaceutical market estimated at $5 billion, Citi Pharma is targeting a $1 billion market share over the next decade, leveraging its expertise in innovation, quality production, and wider accessibility to medicines.
“This expansion reflects our commitment to strengthening regional healthcare, creating new opportunities, and making quality medicines more accessible to patients across the region,” the company said in its announcement.
The planned facility will not only support local healthcare infrastructure but also generate employment opportunities and contribute to Iraq’s economy. It will focus on producing high-quality pharmaceutical products to meet growing demand across the Middle East.
While the timeline for construction and launch has not been disclosed, Citi Pharma confirmed that planning and development work is already underway following its recent site visit.
This initiative marks a strategic milestone for Citi Pharma as it positions itself to play a larger role in the Middle Eastern pharmaceutical industry.
