azz deploys 1.2 Tbps optical technology and launches 100 Gbps FTTS ring

Jazz has strengthened Pakistan’s digital infrastructure by becoming the first operator in the country to deploy 1.2 terabits per second (Tbps) per wavelength on its optical transport network ,a move that significantly expands high-capacity, next-generation connectivity.

The upgrade was completed in collaboration with Huawei and enhances bandwidth across Jazz’s core and aggregation layers, enabling the network to accommodate accelerating data usage and prepare for advanced services, including cloud-based applications and future 5G readiness. According to APP, the system is built with long-term scalability, resilience, and service reliability in mind to support both enterprise and consumer demand.

Alongside this milestone, Jazz has also introduced Pakistan’s first 100 Gbps Fiber-to-the-Site (FTTS) ring, setting another industry benchmark. The enhancement boosts last-mile fiber performance, improving throughput for enterprise users, mobile backhaul, and emerging digital services that rely on stable high-bandwidth infrastructure.

Khalid Shehzad, Chief Technology Officer of JazzWorld, said the achievements reflect the company’s focus on future-proof network design. He noted that the enhancements will help manage data growth and complex enterprise requirements without compromising stability or user experience.

These developments underline Jazz’s ongoing leadership in network innovation and its broader commitment to Pakistan’s digital transformation. By investing in advanced optical technologies, the company is contributing to a more robust, inclusive, and digitally enabled economy.
