Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says Pakistan negotiating fighter jet exports with multiple countries

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said Pakistan is in advanced talks with multiple countries for the export of its domestically manufactured fighter jets, following heightened international interest after the country’s military performance in the May 2025 conflict with India.

Addressing a meeting of the federal cabinet, the prime minister remarked that Pakistan’s aerospace capabilities are receiving strong attention from foreign governments, with several states formally engaging Islamabad on procurement discussions.

“Demand for our fighter aircraft has risen significantly after last year’s conflict. A number of countries are now actively negotiating with us,” he told cabinet members.

Separately, the prime minister confirmed that Pakistan had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with World Liberty Financial to explore the use of a USD-linked stablecoin for regulated cross-border payment channels. He said the collaboration could support smoother international settlements and contribute to broader economic stability.

The premier said the government had restored macroeconomic stability within a relatively short period and would now prioritise policies to drive sustainable growth.

On internal security, he reaffirmed the state’s resolve to eliminate terrorism and stated that security forces remained fully committed to ensuring public safety.

Shehbaz Sharif also announced new education initiatives for Balochistan, including plans to establish seven Danish Schools in the province to expand access to quality learning.

During the cabinet meeting, members also reviewed the draft Private Hajj Policy for 2027–2030 presented by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The policy proposes regulatory oversight and inspection mechanisms for private Hajj operators. The cabinet referred the draft back to the Hajj Policy Committee for further consultation.

Additionally, the federal cabinet ratified decisions taken by the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCE) on 24 December 2025 and endorsed resolutions approved by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on 23 December 2025.
