Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated in Washington that Pakistan is “very close” to finalizing a trade agreement with the United States, possibly within days. Speaking at the Atlantic Council, Dar revealed that negotiations have accelerated, with dedicated committees fine-tuning final terms under Prime Ministerial direction.

However, following his meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the US made no mention of a timeline. While both sides emphasized expanding trade—particularly in critical minerals and mining—official US statements remained noncommittal on the deal’s conclusion.

Pakistan's foreign ministry acknowledged the role of President Trump and Rubio in easing India-Pakistan tensions and facilitating a ceasefire, although US statements did not reference India. Washington previously played a visible role in trade renegotiations under Trump, but economists continue to debate the broader impact of those policies.

For now, optimism remains high on the Pakistani side, but final confirmation from Washington is still awaited.
