Inflation in Pakistan picked up pace in July 2025, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising to 4.1% YoY, compared to 3.2% in June. On a monthly basis, CPI surged 2.9% MoM, led by higher costs of fresh vegetables, poultry, housing, and energy.

Urban CPI jumped by 4.4% YoY and 3.4% MoM, while rural inflation increased by 3.5% YoY and 2.2% MoM, reflecting broad-based price pressures. Key contributors included gas and electricity tariff hikes and volatile perishable food prices.

Despite the uptick, headline inflation remains below last year's double-digit levels, supported by stable currency and improved food supply. However, core inflation stayed sticky at 7.0% YoY urban and 8.1% YoY rural, signaling persistent underlying pressures.

Outlook remains cautiously optimistic, though risks from energy prices, weather disruptions, and global uncertainties linger.
