The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for electronic invoicing integration to December 1, 2025, following pressure from the trader community. The earlier June 1 deadline is now split across seven business categories, offering phased compliance.

Under the revised order, public sector companies, importers, and firms with turnover above Rs1 billion must comply by September 1, while others face deadlines in October and November. The move comes amid concerns over system readiness and integration costs, with traders demanding withdrawal of FBR arrest powers and tax-related clauses.

Integration will be facilitated by four FBR-licensed companies including PRAL and EY Ford Rhodes. The Rs10 per invoice charge remains contentious, with the government exploring potential subsidy or free solutions.

Failure to integrate may result in penal actions, as per FBR regulations.
