PKR Gains Marginally Against USD, Closes at 281.50

The Pakistani rupee (PKR) strengthened by 0.91 paisa against the US dollar in Wednesday’s interbank session, closing at PKR 281.5037 per USD compared to the previous day’s settlement of PKR 281.5128.
During the day, the currency traded within a range of 281.8 (high bid) and 282.5 (low ask). In the open market, the dollar was quoted at 281.8 for buying and 282.55 for selling.
Performance against major currencies:
- Euro: Lost 1.34 rupees, closing at 333.3566
- British Pound: Weakened by 19.87 paisa to 383.8162
- Swiss Franc: Declined by 2.04 rupees to 357.3969
- Japanese Yen: Down 0.36 paisa at 1.9196
- Chinese Yuan: Gained 3.88 paisa, closing at 39.6027
- Saudi Riyal: Down 1.65 paisa to 75.0376
- UAE Dirham: Slightly lower by 0.25 paisa at 76.6403
Year-to-date trends:
- FY25: PKR has appreciated by 2.26 rupees (0.8%) against the USD.
- CY25: PKR has depreciated by 2.95 rupees (1.05%).
In the money market, the benchmark 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid (KIBOR) and Offer rates edged up by 2 bps to 10.83% and 11.08%, respectively.
