August 08, 2025: The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) gained 8.90 paisa or 0.03% against the US Dollar in Friday’s interbank session, closing at PKR 282.47 compared to the previous close of 282.56, as per data from the State Bank of Pakistan.
Throughout the trading day, the PKR traded within a narrow band, posting an intraday high bid of 283.85 and a low ask of 284.90. The minor gain signals continued stability in the currency market.
In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 283.50 (buying) and PKR 285.15 (selling).
PKR also posted mixed movements against major currencies. It appreciated 94 paisa against the Euro (329.37), rose Rs1.26 versus the Swiss Franc (349.96), and edged up against the Chinese Yuan, Yen, Saudi Riyal, and Dirham. However, it declined Rs1.87 against the British Pound (379.86).
Cumulatively in FY26, the PKR has gained Rs1.30 against the USD. Meanwhile, year-to-date (CY25), the rupee has depreciated by Rs3.92.
In the money market, the 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer Rates (KIBOR) rose by 2 basis points to 10.81% and 11.06%, respectively.
