Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the IT Ministry to present a phased roadmap to boost Pakistan’s IT exports to $30 billion, following a record $3.8bn achieved in FY2025. Chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad, the PM emphasized the need for a robust digital ecosystem, talent acquisition, and restructuring of the National Information Technology Board (NITB).

He praised initiatives like Digital Youth Hub and e-Office, which have enhanced efficiency and created jobs. The Ministry briefed that IT exports rose 19%, freelancers surged 91%, and 386 startups were supported under NIC.

Over 315,000 youth received professional training, including 115,000 women. Additionally, tax collection via Pak-App reached Rs6.2bn, and e-governance expanded to 98% of federal offices. The PM stressed innovation, cybersecurity, and infrastructure as key to the digital transformation.
