Pakistan Refinery to Halt Operations for 15-Day Maintenance from August 17

KARACHI, August 15, 2025:

Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL) has announced a planned shutdown of its operations for approximately 15 days, starting August 17, 2025, as part of a scheduled regeneration and maintenance program.

In a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), PRL stated that the temporary halt will allow the company to optimise crude intake in line with its refinery configuration, focusing on crude types that improve output yields.

The maintenance aligns with the company’s ongoing Refinery Expansion and Upgradation Project (REUP), aimed at producing EURO-V compliant fuels — High-Speed Diesel (HSD) and Motor Spirit (MS). The project also includes the installation of advanced deep conversion refinery technology to reduce furnace oil output and plans to double the plant’s capacity from 50,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 100,000 bpd.

PRL’s share price closed at Rs 31.83, down 0.81% from the previous session.
