Karachi – July 18, 2025:

Suzuki Motor Company Pakistan has expressed serious reservations about the proposed allowance of used vehicle imports for commercial use in the country. During a recent meeting with the Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Commerce, Suzuki’s CEO discussed the adverse impact such a policy could have on Pakistan’s domestic auto industry.

According to an official statement, Suzuki warned that easing import restrictions on used vehicles may flood the local market with lower-quality and potentially non-compliant vehicles. Company officials stressed that this move could hurt consumer interests and severely disrupt the growth trajectory of the local manufacturing sector.

Responding to the concerns, the Ministry of Commerce acknowledged the potential risks and assured Suzuki that the upcoming redraft of the Import Policy would include necessary checks and balances to safeguard local industry and consumer protection.
